HeyGF is a browser-based AI girlfriend site run by Y2A LLC of Delaware. You either pick a ready-made companion from a large cast, each listed with an age, a country, a backstory and interests, or you build your own. Chat, NSFW roleplay, requested photos and voice notes sit on top. It suits adults who like choosing a character first and a feature list second.
Meet her or make her
The first thing you do on HeyGF is browse. The Explore page is a grid of companions, and each card carries a first name, an age, a country and a one-line pitch. Opening a profile gives you much more: a short bio, a longer life story, a personality summary with trait tags, and a list of things she likes to talk about. Every age I saw listed was 19 or older, which is what an adult site should show.
Sienna Vale is a good example of how deep a profile goes. She is 28, from England, and the page presents her as a Manchester eveningwear stylist who hosts nightlife events at weekends. The tone is witty and teasing, and her listed interests include pub quizzes, vintage hair clips and rating late-night food. It reads like a character sheet, and it gives you an easy way to start a conversation because you already know what she would banter about.
If the cast does not hold anyone you like, you can build a girlfriend from scratch. The site says you set her face, hair, body type and style, choose a personality from sweet and shy to dominant and playful, pick her voice and accent, and write a name and backstory. I could not open the creation page itself in today's crawl, so the description comes from the homepage and the FAQ rather than from the builder.
Memory, mood and roleplay
HeyGF leans hard on the idea that a relationship should grow. The FAQ says she picks up your tone, humour and preferences over time, remembers what you have told her, and has moods and boundaries of her own, so you have to earn some of her attention. That is a different pitch from a bot that agrees with everything. It is also marketing language, and I have no way to measure how far the memory really reaches without chatting for weeks.
Roleplay is covered openly. The FAQ describes flirty exchanges, romantic storylines and longer narrative scenarios that bend to whatever themes you bring. The homepage and pricing page both say explicit NSFW chat is part of the paid experience, and the free tier is described as basic conversation to get a feel for each personality.
The content moderation page is worth a read if you care about limits. It lists a long set of blocked categories, covering anything age-ambiguous, coercion themes, celebrity likenesses, gore and more, and says filters run on prompts, during generation and after it. So the roleplay is broad but not unlimited.
Photos, studio and short videos
Photos arrive inside the chat. You ask for something, ideally with details such as outfit, pose and setting, and she generates a picture to match. The FAQ gives a handy example of how specific to be: asking for a mirror selfie in a named dress works better than a vague request. Custom pictures are listed as a premium feature, and the sample conversation on the homepage shows locked premium previews to tease them.
For more control there is the Girlfriend Studio, a separate page for pictures and short videos of the companion you chose. The homepage says it walks you through building a prompt, offers quick alternative takes on a result, and can animate stills. That page only showed a loading screen in my crawl, so I cannot describe its interface myself. The Explore page adds that videos now run up to 15 seconds with sound and cost up to 30 percent less than before, which is a claim from the site and one I did not test.
Be aware that the terms forbid downloading or extracting media from the service. If you want to keep your pictures, read that clause first.
Voice notes, and what about calls
Each companion has her own voice, tuned to her country. The voice page lets you press play on samples without signing up, and the examples include British English, French, Russian, American English, Turkish and Spanish voices. The page claims more than ten languages and accents, and says custom girls get a voice picked during setup, with accent, tone and mood adjustable.
Honesty matters here: the voice page is about voice messages, not live phone-style calls. You tap the mic to send a note or ask for a spoken reply, and she answers in her own voice, with the same memory as the text thread. The Explore page does carry a promo for live voice calls and Sienna's profile has a call button, but the voice page does not explain how calls work, so treat them as something to check yourself.
What it really costs
Starting is free and needs no card. The pricing page I read shows the annual view: Casual at $8.33 a month, Closer at $15.83 and Exclusive at $29.17, all billed yearly, with 1,800, 4,200 and 9,600 coins a year respectively. Closer is flagged as the popular pick. All plans are described as including unlimited messages, NSFW content, photos, videos and audio and access to every girl.
Annual plans also unlock each girl's complete photo gallery, so the cheapest way to get the full experience is also the biggest upfront commitment. The pages do not say clearly what a coin buys, such as how many coins a picture or a clip costs, which makes it hard to judge whether Casual's yearly allowance goes far.
The terms say subscriptions renew automatically, can be cancelled in account settings, and stay active until the period ends. There are no refunds for partial periods, and coin packs and custom media are final. A refund is only considered for billing errors or malfunctions.
Privacy, billing and cancelling
The FAQ promises a neutral bank statement entry that avoids any mention of AI girlfriends. It does not name the exact descriptor, so I cannot tell you what you will see. The privacy policy says conversations are not used to train AI models, accounts can be deleted from Settings, and a full erasure request by email is handled within 30 days.
There is fine print to weigh. Parts of your conversation and the companion's settings are sent to third-party AI providers to generate replies, and the policy lists ad and tracking partners, with Meta, Google and PostHog among the names. Closing an account also leaves a record kept for fraud and billing reasons. The terms I read were last updated in May 2025, so they are not recent.

Verdict
HeyGF is a good fit for adults who want to choose a character with a proper backstory, or build one, and then enjoy NSFW chat, requested photos and voice notes without a huge upfront price. It is less comfortable for anyone who wants flexible billing, a clear coin price list, forgiving refunds or live-call certainty. Try the free tier first and read the coin details before paying for a year.
