Fantasy AI Review: a flexible builder held back by tough fine print

Companion builder with realistic or anime partners, voice notes and calls, chat pictures and a separate image generator. First month $7.99, then $14.99; images and calls cost tokens, and old chats can be wiped after seven days.

Fantasy AI is a browser companion service run by DreamAI SRL from Bucharest, where you design a girlfriend or boyfriend in a realistic or anime style and then text, trade pictures and take voice calls. Today I read its feature pages and most of its policy pages, because the subscription page itself loaded empty for me. The pricing policy lists a first month at $7.99 that renews at $14.99, and here the small print matters more than usual.

How a companion is built

Creation follows a fixed path. You pick a realistic or anime look, then ethnicity, age and facial features, body type and bust size, hair, an outfit, a voice tone and finally personality traits and interests. Oddly, the generator page counts seven steps while its own FAQ talks about ten. The NSFW landing page adds kinks and fetishes as settings and makes it clear that boyfriends are on offer as well as girlfriends.

If you would rather skip the design work, a gallery of ready-made characters is waiting. The ten shown on the girlfriend page all carry stated ages between 20 and 38, each with a short tagline and a count of clips. The FAQ says there is no cap on how many companions you keep, but the membership policy charges 20 tokens to generate a new one, so your balance is the real limit. Building a partner from an uploaded photo is announced as coming soon.

What the chat promises

I did not open a chat, so this part rests on the site's own descriptions. The girlfriend pages promise a partner who learns your preferences and recalls details from earlier talks, roleplay that runs from casual dates to fantasy plots, and pictures that fit the tone of the conversation. Paying members get unlimited text messages, while free accounts receive a limited number before tokens are needed.

The NSFW page sells the chat as unfiltered and free of restrictions. The policies say otherwise. The content and monitoring policy describes automatic flagging backed by human moderators, a soft list of words that triggers warnings, a hard list that suspends the account pending review, and vetted categories for image prompts. Images that could look under 18 are removed, and so is anything impersonating real people or celebrities. That is responsible moderation, just not the anything-goes experience the marketing implies.

Pictures, voice and video

Pictures come two ways: on request inside a chat, or from a stand-alone generator that offers realistic, anime and fantasy styles with control over pose, outfit and body type. The generator page credits Stable Diffusion models, mentions downloads up to 4K and talks of making images without limit, yet the membership policy bills 10 tokens per image. A premium perk called remove blur suggests that free accounts see their pictures blurred.

Voice covers recorded notes and phone-style calls with a choice of tones, and the girlfriend page plays short samples in a few English accents. A voice note costs 3 tokens and a call 7 tokens a minute. The NSFW FAQ also says you can ask for videos in the chat, but no page I read puts a token price on them, so video remains an unknown until you are a member.

What it really costs

The plans page stayed blank for me, so these figures come from the pricing policy, which advertises up to 75 percent off a first subscription. Each plan opens with a discounted payment and then renews at a higher rate until you cancel. Membership adds a monthly token allowance, faster replies and image generation, voice features, unblurred pictures and access to token packs priced from $2.99 to $179.99, which only members can buy.

Tokens decide how far a membership goes. The pricing policy promises 200 a month, while the membership policy calls 100 the base allowance that promotions can raise. At the posted rates, 100 tokens buy ten images, five new companions or about fourteen minutes of calls. Tokens do not expire, which is fair, but neither subscriptions nor used tokens are refunded unless consumer law demands it. The refund policy points to a free trial as your safety net, while the trial on the pricing policy costs $5.99.

Two extra charges deserve a warning. When a renewal payment fails, a $2 fee keeps the account premium while billing is retried up to three times. Separately, the terms and the membership policy reserve the right to charge former buyers $1.99 a month to keep their account open, and the only exit they mention is deleting it. Cancelling a plan, at least, is done from the billing page in your profile, and the perks last until the paid period ends.

  • Monthly: $7.99 for the first month, then $14.99 a month
  • 7-day Premium trial: $5.99, then $14.99 a month
  • Per 3 months: $29.97 at first, then $38.00 each quarter
  • Annual: $69.99 at first, then $155.88 a year
  • Token costs: 20 per new companion, 10 per image, 3 per voice note, 7 per call minute

Privacy and payments

The operator is DreamAI SRL, with a Bucharest address in every footer, yet the terms and the privacy policy describe it as a corporation under United States law and pick US law to govern both, an odd fit for a Romanian company form. The privacy policy is written around the GDPR, lists access, erasure and portability rights with a 30-day response target, names Digital Ocean for storage and says card details stay with the payment processors.

The pricing policy promises that no adult wording appears on bank statements, though it does not say which label does. You can sign in with an email, Google or Patreon. The age checks described are an entry gate, a checkbox at registration and monitoring of what users generate, with proper verification demanded only from UK users since July 2025. The NSFW page claims end-to-end encryption and no logs, but the privacy policy says nothing of the kind and lets staff read a conversation once you report a problem with it.

The seven-day rule

The clause that worried me most sits in the terms under a deletion strategy. Free users lose their companions and messages after seven days unless they upgrade, and members who cancel lose everything seven days after the membership ends unless they come back. Only active subscribers keep their history for good. For a service that sells memory and a long relationship, this ties your whole archive to an unbroken subscription and makes a quick free test almost pointless.

On the plus side, the terms say emails are sent only to announce new features and that material changes to the terms come with 14 days of notice, and the blocked content policy asks users to report rule breaks. The policies are numerous and mostly readable, but they contradict the marketing often enough that I would read them before paying, not after.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Free sign-up with just an email, plus a limited free message allowance
  • Realistic or anime builder covering looks, outfit, voice tone and personality, for girlfriends and boyfriends
  • Token costs published per feature: 10 per image, 3 per voice note, 7 per call minute
  • Tokens never expire and members get unlimited text messages
  • Cancellation from the profile billing page and a promise of no adult wording on bank statements

What does not

  • Free accounts and cancelled members lose companions and chats after seven days
  • Introductory prices jump at renewal, from $7.99 to $14.99 a month on the monthly plan
  • Former buyers can be billed $1.99 a month to keep an account open, and a failed renewal costs $2
  • No refunds on subscriptions or used tokens unless the law requires one
  • Marketing promises unfiltered chat, unlimited images and end-to-end encryption that the policies do not support
  • The plans page and FAQ did not load, and the monthly token allowance reads 200 on one policy page and 100 on another

Verdict

Fantasy AI has the pieces a companion app needs: a flexible builder, voice notes and calls, pictures in the chat and a separate image tool, with token costs that are at least written down. The trouble is the fine print. Seven-day deletion for anyone not paying, a fee for keeping old accounts, no refunds and renewal prices well above the first month all push you to commit early. It suits adults who expect to subscribe steadily; casual testers and anyone who values a long chat history should look elsewhere.
