Secret Desires is a browser-based companion platform where you design an AI partner and then text, roleplay, swap pictures and take voice calls with them. Today I read its homepage, the partner builder, the subscription page and its trust, security and transparency pages. You can start free with daily limits, and the cheapest paid tier, Pro, showed $7.99 on the monthly view. It is aimed at adults who want heavy customization and explicit roleplay rather than a polite chatbot.
How a partner is built
Everything starts in the partner builder. You choose a woman, a man or a trans partner, then a realistic or anime style, and the builder FAQ warns that these two choices are the only ones locked after creation. Looks come next: ethnicity, skin tone, eye and hair color, body shape and a free-text field on every trait, so fantasy beings such as elves, vampires or demons are possible as well as ordinary people.
Personality is handled the same way. There are ready archetypes or a blank box, plus occupation, hobbies, fetishes and quirks, and a final step where you define the relationship itself, from flirty stranger or devoted partner to secret affair or a dominant or submissive dynamic. If building from scratch feels like homework, a large community gallery offers ready-made partners you can open at once, although their quality and taste vary a lot.
What the chat is like
The chat has two registers. Texting mode imitates a phone conversation, short and casual, while Roleplay mode narrates gestures and scenes, and the FAQ says you can switch between them whenever you like. You also pick which chat engine writes the replies, and each paid tier opens stronger engines, up to an experimental one on the top plan.
Memory is the main selling point. According to the homepage FAQ, recent exchanges are kept in full while older ones are condensed into key memories, which should keep a long story coherent without a hard cutoff. Partners can also reach out first with texts, pictures, voice notes or calls when the proactive options are on, and every partner you keep holds a separate memory. I am going on these descriptions: I did not chat with anyone.
Images, voice and video
Pictures come from the chat or from a separate Generate page, where you select a partner, an optional action and outfit, photos or video, a batch size from 2 up to 64 and a prompt. The builder names four image engines, Monet, Picasso, DaVinci and Vermeer, each with its own look, and the engine active when you create a partner draws their profile picture. Short videos are listed among the paid features.
Voice covers notes, a library of preset voices and real-time calls. Two extras deserve a warning. Voice cloning from an uploaded audio sample is part of the Ultra tier, and realistic partners accept an uploaded face reference for face swap. The site says both stay private to your account, and its transparency page says it acts against deepfakes and the unauthorised use of real people's likenesses, yet the builder still invites those uploads. Use them only with your own face and voice.
What it really costs
You can sign up, build a partner and start talking without a card. The fantasy landing page says free accounts run on a daily cap for both texts and images, and the homepage FAQ adds that voice calls, more messages and image generation open up after an upgrade. The subscription page lists three paid tiers with a switch for monthly, quarterly at 10 percent off or yearly at 20 percent off.
The weak spot is the Hearts. Every tier includes a monthly allowance of them, but neither the subscription page nor any FAQ I read explains what a Heart pays for or how quickly they run out, so the true cost of heavy picture or video use stays hidden until you are inside. I also found no refund terms on the pages that loaded for me.
- Free: daily allowance of messages and pictures, no card needed
- Pro: $7.99 on the monthly view, unlimited messages, image and video generation, voice features, 100 Hearts a month
- Ultra: $13.99, everything in Pro plus voice cloning, stronger chat engines and 200 Hearts
- Max: $19.99, everything in Ultra plus the top and experimental chat engines and 300 Hearts, labelled most popular
Privacy and payments
Secret Desires belongs to Playhouse Media, which lists a company in Delaware and a trading company registered in Malta in the footer of every page. Card charges appear as SDAI, a label that says nothing about the service. Login runs through Firebase with Discord, Google or X sign-in, so the site says it never stores your password, and a pseudonym is enough because no identity check is required.
The security page is unusually specific. Stored data is encrypted with AES-256, traffic runs through Cloudflare, servers are hosted by OVH, and two outside firms run penetration tests, while a SOC 2 audit begun in February 2026 is still described as in progress. Messages are processed by outside AI providers under zero-retention contracts and are not used for training, which is reassuring but not the same as keeping them in-house. You can delete the account from the settings at any time.
Moderation and mixed signals
Moderation works in layers: keyword filters and an AI classifier score content, and borderline cases are passed to human reviewers. The list of what gets removed includes illegal abuse imagery, celebrity likenesses, deepfakes, bestiality, non-consent and taboo family scenarios, and the page explains how legal requests are checked before anything is handed over.
The shop window does not always match that list. The search tags on the homepage push step-family, cheating and similar themes, and several community profiles are written to provoke rather than to charm. The transparency page, last updated in March, still promises a first report with numbers for the second quarter of 2026, and I found no link to one in October.
Pros and cons
What works
- Free start with a daily allowance and no card required
- Paid tiers from $7.99 on the monthly view, with 10 and 20 percent off for quarterly and yearly billing
- Detailed builder: realistic or anime, free-text traits, relationship dynamics and four image engines
- Layered memory, proactive messages, texting and roleplay modes and real-time voice calls
- Discreet SDAI billing label, account deletion in settings and unusually detailed security pages
What does not
- Every plan comes with Hearts, but no page I read explains what they buy
- Face swap from an uploaded face reference and voice cloning are easy to misuse with real people
- Homepage tags push step-family and cheating themes that clash with the site's own moderation list
- The promised transparency report and the SOC 2 audit were both still pending on the pages I read
- No refund terms on any page that loaded for me
Verdict
On paper, Secret Desires is a very complete companion builder: the creation tools go deep, the memory design is thought through, and $7.99 is a low price for unlimited messages. It suits adults who want a long-running partner with voice, pictures and roleplay and who enjoy fine-tuning every trait. Anyone who plans heavy image or video use should wait for a clear explanation of Hearts, and nobody should upload another person's face or voice.
Our score: 3.9/5
