Promptchan AI is a browser studio for explicit AI pictures that has grown into short video clips and companion chat. You write a prompt, pick a realistic, anime or fantasy look, then refine, animate or talk to the result. I read its homepage, pricing page, help guides and legal pages today: a free account runs on a daily Gem allowance, and paid plans start at $14.99 a month. It suits people who like to steer every detail themselves.
How image creation works
Everything starts on the Create page. You describe the scene in ordinary words, choose a style and generate. The beginner guide says you can also name things to keep out of the picture, and the advanced settings push quality higher, return several variations in one go and control how literally the model reads your text. Poses, expressions, filters and appearance sliders sit on top of the prompt, so the typing is only half of the job. The terms say the engine rests on open-source diffusion models that the company has tuned for its own service.
Styles cover photoreal, anime and fantasy looks. According to the guide, the realistic and anime models are open to free users, while the higher-detail models, the bigger pose library and 4K output belong to the pricier tiers. A basic image costs roughly one Gem, and heavier options cost more.
Tweak, Clone and the community wall
Two tools make Promptchan feel more like an editor than a slot machine. Tweak takes a result that is nearly right and changes one thing, such as the outfit, the background, the pose or the lighting, from a short instruction, so you do not have to roll a fresh image. Clone works on the Explore feed: it copies the prompt and every setting behind a public creation into your own workspace, which is a quick way to learn how somebody reached a look and then branch off.
The flip side is that the feed runs on sharing. Under the terms, anything made in public mode can be hosted, adapted and used to promote the service, for good and without payment, and other members also get a licence to build on it. Private or offline generation removes those rights, yet the FAQ only tells you to look at your plan and settings, so it is not clear which tiers include it.
Video: text to video, Animate and Extend
Video is the newest layer. You can type a motion prompt and get a clip with no starting picture, or press Animate on a still, your own or one from Explore, and use it as the first frame. Motion can stay on Auto or be directed in words, the frame can be portrait, wide or square, and AI sound or dialogue can be switched on. Extend carries a clip further, either holding the same pose for a smooth join or moving to a new one, and there is a freestyle option where you describe the next part.
There are catches. Full video, Extend included, belongs to the Pro plan only, and each clip still draws Gems, with surcharges for higher quality, sound or an added character in the shot. The guide does say the price appears on the button before you confirm. Finished clips are deleted after 24 hours unless you publish them, so anyone who wants to keep work private has to download it quickly.
Companion chat and voice
Promptchan also has a chat side. A Discover feed lists ready-made companions, male and female, realistic and anime, and you can build your own by setting a name, a look, a personality, interests, a background and a first message, with more than fifty written scenarios to start from. The guide names two models, v2.5 Pro for fuller replies and v2.5 Fast for speed, and two modes: a texting-style Chat and a Story mode where you direct a scene. Switching between the modes wipes the conversation history, which is worth knowing before a long session.
In the middle of a chat, a button turns the current moment into an image, and the homepage mentions asking a companion for scene videos, which, like all video here, needs Pro. Voice messages cost one Gem and live calls two. The help pages do not quite match the pricing table on this point: one guide says voice works on any account with Gems, while the plan list shows voice calls as a Pro feature.
What it really costs
The pricing page lists four tiers with monthly prices, and says every plan, free included, covers prompt images, chat with Discover characters, gallery cloning and both anime and photoreal styles on web, iOS and Android.
Paid members get half price on extra Gems, but the public Gems page I loaded showed only a referral offer and no pack prices, so the real cost of topping up stays hidden until you are signed in. The pricing FAQ also warns that promotional prices sometimes appear at checkout, and the refund policy refers to annual plans that the public pricing page does not show at all.

Refunds, privacy and payments
Promptchan is run by VisionAI Labs Limited, which gives a registered address in Dublin, and the terms fall under Irish law. You can cancel from the account settings and keep access until the paid period ends. The refund policy, updated in August 2026, accepts requests within 30 days, but only if the account shows no significant use, only after you cancel, and each case is judged on its own. Crypto payments are final, and the terms add that crypto and G2A purchases run for a fixed period instead of renewing.
The privacy policy, revised on 2 October 2026, lists what is collected: username, email, payment records, prompts made in public mode and technical details such as your IP address and browser string. It promises access, correction and erasure on request, and the terms let you close the account for good. A first-party visitor ID is kept for 13 months and Google Analytics and Google Ads are used, with opt-in consent in the EU, EEA and UK. I did not find a card statement descriptor on any page I read.
Moderation and content rules
The rules are tighter than the uncensored label on the pricing page suggests. Prompts, outputs and uploads are scanned automatically when they are made, members can flag posts, and a human team reviews reports and can suspend accounts. The terms forbid images of real celebrities or private people unless they have agreed, deepfakes of real people and any character who is not plainly an adult, and taboo family scenarios are off limits even as fiction. The policy promises an answer to removal requests within 48 hours.

Verdict
Promptchan AI puts images, editing, video and chat under one Gem balance, and the free account is enough to test the basics before paying. It suits hands-on users who enjoy writing prompts and polishing results. Anyone who mainly wants video should budget for Pro at $33.99 a month plus Gems, and anyone who cares about privacy should sort out private generation before posting. People who only want an easy chat partner may find a dedicated companion app simpler.
